UPCOMING WORK

Construction continues on the Airway-Airport Loop Sewer Rehabilitation project.  The project rehabilitates two regional sewer pipelines, occurring in separate phases, to ensure continuous and uninterrupted sewer service.

The project is transitioning to Phase 3 (see Construction Schedule section below) of the construction, which includes the rehabilitation of the second of the two pipelines.  There will be temporary construction striping, k-rail and construction barrier set up, and dewatering system installation.

LOCATION: Airway Ave., north of McCormick Ave., and Airport Loop Dr., Costa Mesa

  • What:  Traffic lanes temporarily reconfigured with striping. Lanes will be shifted to the previous configuration during Phase 1, which allowed for a designated construction work area, and still allowing a lane of travel in each direction.
  • When: Night of Tuesday, April 29
  • Work Hours: Nightwork, 8 p.m. – 6 a.m.

ONGOING WORK

LOCATION:  Main Street Pump Station, 1499 Main St., Irvine

  • What:  Rehabilitating and constructing pipelines, pumps, and valves
  • When:  Ongoing - Spring 2025
  • Work Hours:  Day-time work, 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • What to Expect:
    • Occasional reduced travel lanes on westbound Main St.
    • Increase in activity and noise levels

Project Description

This project will rehabilitate two parallel regional sewer pipelines, along a 1-mile stretch on Airway Avenue and Airport Loop Drive in the City of Costa Mesa, near the John Wayne Airport. The rehabilitation of the two pipelines must occur one at a time and will take place in separate phases.

Project elements also include improvements at the Main Street Pump Station.  See map below (blue line).
