Taft Avenue Sewer Improvement Project
Construction is currently underway on the Taft Avenue Sewer Improvement Project. Crews are actively working along Taft Ave. from Glassell St. to Cambridge where they are performing paving activities and connecting two lateral pipelines.
Starting as early as Friday, May 9, crews will begin re-striping lanes and installing permanent K-rail along the center median between Glassell St. and Schaffer St. Following this, crews will begin deep trenching work, digging up to 20 feet below ground to install a larger, upgraded sewer line. Once this phase is complete, construction will progress east along Taft Avenue.
We appreciate the community’s continued patience as we make important infrastructure upgrades to support a more reliable sewer system.

Project Description:Â
The Taft Avenue Sewer Improvement Project will replace and relocate a portion of the Taft Sewer in the City of Orange.
This project will upsize almost two miles of pipe along Taft Avenue from Glassell Street to Sacramento Street, northbound on Sacramento Street to Brentford Avenue, to Breckenridge Street to Meats Avenue. The current pipe ranges between 12 to 15 inches and will be upsized to 18 to 21 inches.
A portion of the sewer that currently runs along Tustin Street will be relocated to North Sacramento Street where there is more room to install a larger pipe and facilitates the future maintenance of the pipeline.
